Texas Instruments Touchscreen Android video demo
15 February 2008 - 11:25On Monday we showed you the video of Texas Instruments’ non-touchscreen Android prototype at the Mobile World Congress; today we’ve got their touchscreen version demonstrated live on video. Two aspects of this demo stand out for me, firstly the hardware itself - TI have put together what they claim is a sub-$1,000 reference platform targeted predominantly at the open-source community - and secondly as this is a great, working example of the “building blocks” menu GUI we saw in the latest Android release.

Check out the TI touchscreen reference platform after the cut
The system in the video - the TI OMAP3430 Wireless Development Platform with 640 x 480 VGA touchscreen - might not look much, but it could be a relatively low-cost way for small developers to begin coding in earnest for the Android OS.

Wait till I get a hand-on experience, then I can tell you more. When is the release date
for Australia ? My initial impression : Google-on-mobile is very useful.
Any touchscreeen-interface devices will have wide adoption rate. Many people are keyboard lazy.IT illiterated.
You need to build good relationship with major network carrier worldwide to gain faster handset adoption rate.
I see Google search engine is a ‘content’ in itself. That can be irresistable to many mobile users.Speed is vital on mobile platform. This translates into ‘cost saving’ for user.Google search engine definitely hold
‘pole’ position.
Now get the network support you.
